External Description: Responsibilities

Be a part of a new and exciting opportunity as a member of our newly created Next Evolution of Accounting Resourcefulness (N.E.A.R.) Tax Team. This group supports our tax professionals across the firm. NEAR is located in our High Point office. Supervisors are capable of performing most tax assignments with little supervision and spend up to 50% of their day assisting, training, and reviewing staff as they complete their assignments. They direct and review the work of staff and are proficient in the firm's tax compliance practices. Supervisors are responsible for the quality of the work coming out of the NEAR Tax Team for transfer to our firm's tax professionals across the firm. When technical questions or difficulties arise with assigned tasks, they elevate these issues to the NEAR Tax Team leader. Supervisors within the NEAR team would typically possess a 4-year accounting degree or equivalent tax work experience and be familiar with tax work paper preparation, review standards, and software applications required for tax compliance.

How you will contribute:

• Maintaining knowledge and understanding of the firm's tax compliance policies and procedures
• Preparing C Corp and/or Flow Through tax returns
• Preparing tax returns for various entities
• Preparing individual and trust tax returns
• Preparing and supporting tax compliance including sales & use tax, property tax, 1099 compliance, fixed asset management, and other tax supporting areas
• Preparing and reviewing various supporting tax calculations
• Maintaining and/or enhancing client service through work quality, work efficiency, and excellent relations with our tax teams
• Being accountable to the NEAR Tax Team leader for staff accountant and intern charge ability and ensuring that a quality "product" is consistently delivered within established deadlines
• Managing the recording of time daily being careful to charge to the right client code
• Bringing an agile and adaptable attitude to the NEAR Tax teams
• Actively mentoring new staff accountants through training and coaching

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associates degree in Accounting or equivalent years of tax work experience
• Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Experience with individual tax preparation
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with CCH Axcess, CorpTax, or OneSource
• Experience with C Corp and/or Flow Through tax preparation
• SurePrep experience
• BNA Fixed Assets experience
• Previous supervisory experience
