Position Title:

External Description: Description & Requirements

You will be assigned multiple clients and lead a team to execute projects that FORVIS is hired to perform for the Nonprofit industry. You will also be responsible for the execution of various projects from planning, procedures performed, and writing of deliverables to the client including but not limited to various client meetings, internal meetings, and project development. Projects could include system selection and implementation, accounting services, consulting, forecasting/projections, outsourced/interim controller responsibilities, and overall problem-solving for Nonprofit clients related to their financial systems, processes, and records.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for candidates who possess strong attention to detail, sensitivity to deadlines, and leadership and management capabilities. Dedication to client service is essential, including consistently positive interactions with clients and the demonstration of effective communication and people skills. The successful candidate will be an independent worker with excellent project management and time management skills and be able to keep the engagement executive apprised of client status and how to escalate issues.

How will you contribute:

  • Working on a variety of financial, accounting, and compliance projects, with a primary focus on the nonprofit industry
  • Assessing an organization's needs and developing creative solutions through technologies
  • Performing industry and technical research for the development of new client solutions
  • Communicating with Vendors and Clients to ensure all areas of need are addressed
  • Overall project management, including planning, supervising, and executing consulting projects in the areas of process improvement, operational assessments, compliance, and financial reporting
  • Assisting with the development of policies and procedures
  • Leading engagement relationships with appropriate levels of client interaction; managing calendar/meetings for client and team interactions
  • Reviewing and/or assisting with accounting outsourcing services including:
    • General ledger and financial statement preparation
    • Monthly and year-end closing assistance
    • Account and bank reconciliations
    • Audit preparation services
  • Assisting with new business development, growing our client relationships, qualifying leads, and scoping opportunities. Ability to utilize social media and Outlook for mail merge/email blast/postings preferred
  • Assisting in managing, developing, and coaching professional staff

We are looking for people with Forward Vision and:
  • The ability to communicate both up and downstream to team staff and exercise judgment in determining client interactions
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple client projects, including monitoring project time budgets and consistently meeting or exceeding agreed-upon deadlines
  • The ability to professionally write and communicate deliverables including but not limited to client meetings, internal meetings, and projects
  • Advanced computer skills and ability to learn new software related to the accounting function of an organization
  • Highly attention to detail as well as the ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills
  • Ability to complete occasional travel

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5 years or more of accounting and/or consulting experience with at least 2 years of experience in public accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to assess situations and develop solutions in an efficient and timely manner
  • Has untaken or led a system implementation

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Accounting and/or consulting experience within the nonprofit industry
  • CPA license or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam
  • Experience with QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Financial Edge, Intacct, NetSuite
  • Has untaken or led a GL system implementation
  • Private industry accounting department management role
  • Team management experience

New York City Pay Transparency

Pursuant to the pay transparency laws of New York City and Westchester County, New York, the salary range displayed is for the New York City and Westchester County, New York, markets. The salary for this role will be based on the experience, education, and skill set of the individual for the position. Total compensation and benefits consist of salary, group health plan benefits, 401(K), profit-sharing contributions, flexible time off, and parental leave. FORVIS reserves the right to make changes to the salary range based on business needs.
